How to use Google Maps, Offline Maps

Use Google Maps - Offline Maps (in 5 Steps)

Get familiar and see the basic area before you arrive for your travels! Just in case wifi or mobile service isn't available use Google Maps, Offline Maps feature. The "how to" is below.

**You will need an internet connection and enough storage to complete this. You will need a gmail email and results may differ on an Apple phone. **

1. Download Google Maps (if you don’t already have it) and open the application. 

2. Select your profile image or letter in the upper right hand corner. Letter it typically the first letter of your email. 

3. Scroll down to select “Offline Maps”

4. Click on “Select you own map”.

5. Tap in the rectangle selection and move it to the major city you intend to be. The app at the bottom of the rectangle will inform you on how much space the download will use. Once the rectangle if over the area, tap the “Download” button. 

Once downloaded you can rename, update, delete , and view the map to your choosing. Maps may also auto-update over Wifi.
